Lyle Campbell and Son Realtors History
To get a sense of the firm's history, one needs to chronicle the business activities of the late Lyle W. Campbell (1909 - 1993). Lyle earned his first commission in real estate in the spring of 1929 while working for his father, C.M. Campbell, owner of Campbell Realty. For the next eleven years he continued his involvement in real estate while operating a gas station and a bulk operation selling gasoline and lubricants to area farmers.
In 1940 Lyle and a partner formed the Decatur Realty Company. Lyle sold his interest in Decatur Realty in 1945 and formed Lyle W. Campbell & Company.
Pioneering the industry, in 1953 Lyle and other leading businessmen founded First Federal Savings and Loan to meet the demand for an additional source of mortgages for those wanting to achieve home ownership. Lyle was First Federal's only President through the time it was sold to Soy Capital Bank in 1990.
The firm's name changed to Lyle W. Campbell & Son in October 1969 when Bruce Campbell entered into partnership with his father. Bruce has continued to lead the company's growth, expanding both our agent base and available services, in addition to moving Lyle Campbell & Son Realtors to it's newly remodeled facility at 440 N. Monroe Street.
In 1994 Bruce's daughter, Lisa Campbell, became our fourth generation in this family business and has recently been joined by her husband and real estate partner, Gary Hein, III. Bruce is still refusing to change the company name to Lyle Campbell and Son and Granddaughter and Husband Realtors.
Over the years, and continuing today, our company offers incomparable real estate services in residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural real estate sales as well as offering building and development services, escrow services, investments and real estate counseling.
